Cleaning Out The Clutter

I am constantly trying to re-organize and re-decorate my bedroom and belongings. I always seem to find a drawer that needs to be re-organized and sorted through.

Over the past few weeks I have been sorting through all my clothes. I LOVE LOVE LOVE to shop and have done quite a bit of that over the past few years. The biggest problem with my constant shopping is that I have not grown at all since middle school...that's 10 years of clothing collecting in my closet. Of course I go through my stash from time to time but I'm always saving things that just don't quite fit right but I could possibly wear or keeping things that have sentimental value just because.

So this time I decided to do things differently...I went through each and every item asking myself the following questions...

1. Have I worn this in the past year?

2. Do I actually like this item?

3. Is there any problem with this item? (too small, too big, ripped, stained...etc..)

Some items I placed aside because eventually I want to make a few quilts in the distant future. I want to make one with old dance clothing and costumes. I also want to make another with all my URI t-shirts. Those items I placed in storage bins since they are not clothing I wear anymore.

I got rid of a TON of things. Sweatshirts, sweaters, jackets, tshirts, long sleeved shirts, jeans, shorts, socks, underwear... etc... I had quite a few pairs of jeans that were not the right fit for me and lots of shorts that were just TOO short. Everything was donated to the Salvation Army which always makes me feel better about getting rid of clothing.

Enough about clothes =)

I also went through all my file folders and got rid of old papers I no longer needed. I shredded a ton of files that I no longer need.

Books were also sent to the Salvation Army. I have gotten rid of a ton of books over the years and now try to hold onto only the books that are really special to me or ones that I know I will read over and over. Now that I have my kindle I don't buy books quite as often as I used to but my collection always needs to be gone through!

I went through all my products as well getting rid of a ton of hair products that I bought and have never really used. It's amazing the products you buy and don't ever use.

So there you have it, cleaning out the clutter =)
