Beach Days and Fuller House

On Sunday morning after grabbing some breakfast Tim and I took a walk on Charlestown Beach. It was a gorgeous sunny day even though there was a bit of a chill in the air from the wind. I felt comfortable in my winter jacket but was dreaming of having my toes in the sand instead of my boots!

Gorgeous right?!

Also, just wanted to share that it took precisely three days for Tim and I to watch the entirety of Fuller House which was so good! Incredibly cheesy, but amazing and I highly recommend checking it out!

Bedroom Cleaning Routine

I'm sure many of you are like me and appreciate the calming nature of a nice clean bedroom. You may also be the type of person who doesn't always put everything away. Or perhaps you have a significant other who likes to leave things all over the room. Whatever it is that makes your bedroom messy, it's super easy to get your room sparkling once more.

The first step is to get all your dirty laundry, blankets and sheets out of the room. I strip my bed and get the washer started while I get to cleaning!

The first step is to tidy. I work my way around my bedroom tidying everything up. I put things away that aren't where they belong and get rid of trash, recycling and dishes.

After tidying, I dust everything. I start at the top of my room working on my fan, picture frames and then dust and wipe down all the furniture.

Lastly,  I take everything off the floor out of the room and then give the whole room a great vacuuming.

Delicious French Onion Soup

If you've been reading along for some time now you definitely know I'm NOT a cook at all. I would much prefer to be scrubbing the kitchen rather then cooking in it!

However I decided to make a special dinner for Tim and I a few weeks ago. We both love French Onion Soup and order it quite often at restaurants so I decided to try to make it on my own!

Here are the ingredients I used:

1/2 cup butter
2 tablespoons olive oil
4 cups sliced onions
1 (10.5 ounce) cans beef broth
1 teaspoon dried thyme
a few shakes of salts and pepper
french bread
4 slices provolone cheese
2 slices swiss cheese

I loosely followed a recipe I found on allrecipes.com, however I found that I didn't use the parmesan cheese they recommended using.

1. First I melted the butter and olive oil in a pot on medium heat. Once those started melting I added in all the onions I had cut up. I stirred these for a few minutes until I felt the onions had been warmed up.

2. Next I added the beef broth (it was a TON of liquid) and thyme. I stirred those in and then shook some salt and pepper in as well. I'm not sure exactly how much I did put in but I added more salt then pepper.

3. I let that boil with the top on for a half hour.

4. While I waited for the half hour to pass I prepped my cheese and bread. For each piece of french bread I topped it with a slice of provolone cheese and a half a slice of cut up swiss cheese. I prepped this on a plate so they would be ready to go once my broth was done cooking.

5. After the half hour had passed I scooped broth into oven safe bowls and topped them with the bread and cheese.

6. I simply watched the bowls in order to see how long to keep them inside. I believe it was about 20 minutes for the cheese to melt and look about right.

It was absolutely delicious! Although it was a lot of work, I will make this recipe again, I did learn it's difficult to have after for leftovers because you have to do the bread and cheese part all over again each time. I am very pleased with this recipe and would highly recommend it!

What have you made in the kitchen lately?

Weekend In Clinton

This weekend I met up with my college roommates and a few other friends for a night of fun!

I got ready Saturday morning and made the hour drive to Megan's house to meet up with her and Laura!

Sweater: Old Navy// Tanktop: Lauren Conrad via Kohls
Jean: American Eagle// Boots: Leandra by Born via Nordstrom
Once Megan's friend Mandy also arrived we took off on an hour drive to Clinton.

Megan's siter Kelsey lives in Clinton with her roommate Kim. They were gracious hosts and they showed us an awesome time in their small town of Clinton. First we headed to dinner at Clinton's Bar and Grille. Then we went to the Simple Man Saloon where there was a band playing. We had a great time listening to the band and I spent a lot of time people watching- it was quite the interesting place!

Sunday morning after a good nights sleep we had breakfast at Michael's Bridge Diner in the next town over. It was a very interesting breakfast spot, but the breakfast was completely delicious!

I mean look how good that looks! Yum!

I had a fabulous weekend with some of the best girls! It was definitely a great girls weekend!

Freebies and Belated Gifts

Oh hey it's Friday! Are you ready for the weekend? Sometimes I think that short weeks end up being the longest!

Today I wanted to share with you some freebies I received in the mail recently as well as a few beauty items I've received lately.

I love ordering free samples through Walmart.com because it is so easy! This dove shampoo and conditioner set came in the mail the other day and although the samples do take quite some time to actually arrive, they always show up! I love a good shampoo and conditioner sample set!

Pinchme is also a great platform for free samples. I received two boxes in the mail last week. They were filled with Truvia, dog food, tampons, and shower gel. I always sign up for any samples that I can and I share the things I don't need or use with friends or family.

My friend Kristin and I exchanged Christmas gifts last week and she gave me a whole slew of beauty products!

I love a good Lush bath bomb so I'm super excited to use that soon. The scrub Kristin says is awesome so I'm pumped to see how great it works. You also know I can't resist a great candle, and I love that she threw in the Lush sample of Dream Cream because that's one of my favorite products ever!

Do you have any new products? Free samples? Share your recent faves in the comments?!

Money Jars!

Tim and I both save coins like crazy! I was using a coin counting jar to hold all my coins (which wasn't counting like it used to) and Tim was using a free cup from the PawSox game and as you all know I like everything to match!

Yesterday I headed to Marshalls after work to look around and picked out a couple of jars!

Of course I had to label them! I used a little bit of washi tape, making sure to label them in our favorite colors. Now we can grow our savings in beautiful matching jars. $2.99 a piece not bad!

How do you store your coins?

February 2016 Birchbox and Pop Sugar Must Have Box

You know I love a good mail day! I absolutely adore coming home to see a box has arrived for me and seeing my Birchbox and my Pop Sugar Must Have Box were no exception!

February's Birchbox was filled with five goodies this month.

I haven't been painting my nails quite as much as I used to lately but I definitely need to get back into that habit! This dark red from Color Club is a perfect late-winter color. It's dark enough to fit with winter but the red is a nice color for Valentines Day. The color is called That's My Jam which is extremely fitting.

This Naobay hydraplus cream is meant for super dry skin, which of course I have. I will definitely be trying this since my skin is getting to that point where I will try anything to keep it from drying out and flaking!

I love a good hair mask and am super excited to try this Argan Hair Mask. My hair is always super dry so it can always use a good refresh!

I'm not a huge fan of face masks because I never know quite how my skin will react to them but I'm willing to try Hey Honey Take It Off because I do know that honey can do a lot of great things for your skin. I will definitely give it a try soon.

This lipstick by Pop Beauty is a gorgeous color. I'm not sure how much I will actually wear it because I generally stick to my cake batter chapstick but I will give it a try one of these days.

Next up, my Pop Sugar Must Have Box! (Which Tim opened before I got home...)

First up this gorgeous scarf from Tilo. It is so silky and soft and absolutely adorable. I wore it on Valentines Day and it was perfect. I love a good neutral scarf to spice up any outfit!

Nothing could make me happier then a gift card! This $20 rewards card worked just like a gift card at Victoria's Secret. Sweet!

Victoria's Secret workout socks. Every girl needs some socks!

Victoria's Secret seemed to be a theme this month. Their hydrating body lotion looks great and although I should buy stock in lotion because I have so much, I never say no to being gifted more!

This Beauty Counter Cleansing Balm looks like a beauty regimen I might actually be able to follow! You simply put it all over your face and then rinse it off, no scrubbing required.

This midi ring is adorable! I''m not a huge ring-wearer but I actually think I'll be giving this one a try because it's so cute!

Cookies?! Yes, a sugar cookie mix, along with a heart shaped cookie cutter, and sprinkles was included in this bag. It will be fun to make these one day!

Last but certainly not least, this catch-all tray that says "hello beautiful". I love this tray! It fits perfect with my decor and I am obsessed with it!

What have you gotten in your subscription boxes this month?
